Volunteer

SFYHA depends on volunteers to ensure the season operates smoothly and keep costs low. We do our very best to provide a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the season.

• Each family is required to volunteer 12 hours with SFYHA each season. This requirement is by family and not by player.
• All hours volunteered between May 1, 2024, and February 28, 2025, will be allocated towards your family's volunteer hour requirement.
• SafeSport will count as 2 hours toward your time.
• Volunteer shifts must be worked by an adult 18+.

If you do not fulfill the required 12 hours of volunteer time per family, SFYHA will cash the $500 check provided on or after March 1, 2025, as the volunteer fee. This fee is non-negotiable.

New this year: You now have the option to buy out your required volunteer fee during registration for $500. By using the buyout option, you are not required to submit the $500 check to SFYHA prior to tryouts.



As SFYHA continues to grow, there have been more opportunities to earn your required volunteer hours, and an increased demand to have the concessions stand open more often. In order to do this, we are implementing an additional benefit offering to families. 

Families that have fulfilled all 12 required volunteer hours for the current season may pick-up unfilled concessions stand shifts that remain open 72 hours prior to the start of the shift.

Coaches, Team Managers & Board Members

• You are able to participate if your volunteer hour requirement has been met by being a coach, team manager or board member.
• Note: if you do not fulfill the volunteer requirement by the end of the season any hours worked will go towards the 12 required hours

How It Works

1. Click here to view any open/unfilled concessions stand shifts within 72 hours.
2. To claim an open shift, email Venessa@sfyha.org and include your name, date & time of shift.
3. You will receive confirmation of the picked-up shift.
4. Account credits will be tracked and added at the end of the season to be used towards the following season (same process as fundraising credits).  

Event Planning Committee

• SFYHA is looking for a few volunteers to join the Event Planning Committee.
• As a member of this committee, you will for plan, organize, request donations/sponsorships, manage a budget and operate events for the current and upcoming season.
• Events include, but are not limited to the Mite Jamboree, SKATE Banquet, Pioneer Days Parade, In The Sticks, and more.
• Committee members will meet monthly.

Videographer

• Have video/recording/editing experience? If so, we are interested in capturing the excitement and fun of youth hockey and showcase our SF & NTS players.
